Eric Klug Studio Ghibli Power Collection — Five Moxen & Timetwister — Six Original Hand-Painted Alters

An extraordinary collection of six original, hand-painted Magic: The Gathering Power Nine alters by Eric Klug, one of the most acclaimed and recognizable alterists in the history of Magic.

Each card has been individually transformed by Klug into a miniature painting inspired by the animated films of Studio Ghibli, while cleverly incorporating elements of the original Magic card into the new composition.

The collection consists of the complete five-card Mox set plus Timetwister:

Mox Jet — Princess Mononoke
A haunting forest scene featuring Ashitaka, with the black Mox incorporated into the dark, atmospheric landscape.

Mox Ruby — Howl’s Moving Castle
Howl’s fantastical moving castle traverses a mountainous landscape, with the brilliant red Mox Ruby integrated prominently into the scene.

Mox Sapphire — Ponyo
A colorful scene featuring Fujimoto and Ponyo, centered around the brilliant blue sapphire.

Mox Emerald — Princess Mononoke
The enchanted forest populated by the film’s distinctive Kodama spirits, with the Mox Emerald transformed into an object that feels entirely at home within the scene.

Mox Pearl — Grave of the Fireflies
Seita and Setsuko surrounded by glowing fireflies in one of the collection’s most evocative images, with the pearl itself forming the luminous centerpiece.

Timetwister — Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind
A dynamic scene featuring Nausicaä, with the explosive swirling imagery providing an especially appropriate interpretation of Timetwister.

These are original works of art painted directly onto authentic vintage Magic: The Gathering cards. They are not prints, reproductions, proxies, or digitally produced alters. Each is a unique, one-of-one Eric Klug artwork.

Klug is among the best-known artists in the MTG alteration community, with a body of work spanning well over a decade. His elaborate alters have become collectibles in their own right, particularly when executed on historically important Magic cards. 

What makes this collection particularly exceptional is its cohesion. Rather than six unrelated alterations, the cards form a deliberately themed group combining six pieces of Magic’s Power Nine with imagery from some of Studio Ghibli’s most celebrated films. The five Moxen constitute a complete Mox set, accompanied by Timetwister.
